IntroChem - Introductory Chemistry

Introductory Chemistry is a not-for-credit, distance-taught course intended for students with limited chemistry backgrounds. An understanding of the material covered in the course will provide a basis for tertiary chemistry study. Students can enrol for Introductory Chemistry at any time during the year and can take as long as they need to complete the course; students are not required to come to the University of Otago campus. This flexibility makes the course suitable for those who have work or other commitments.

Course content

The material covered is based on senior-school Chemistry.  The course material will be sent to you in the form of printed notes, problem sets and a dvd.  A supporting textbook is also included.  Students will be expected to work through the course at their own pace.  Self-tests are provided so that progress can be assessed.  An assignment will form part of the course assessment.

Course fee

The course fee, paid at the time of enrolment, covers the cost of the textbook, all printed material, the dvd and postage.
